CSIRO AquaWatch Data Systems of the AquaWatch Australia program is working on building pipelines that allow water quality science to be run, effectively and efficiently at a continental scale. The ability to generate earth observation data for any waterbody in Australia across a satellites entire data history provides the opportunity for new research and insights to be generated from these datasets.
AquaWatch has been developing a product suite of datasets that will be available as we work towards our operational goal of 2026. Utilizing these products, our partners and community will be able to create and provide valuable end user products, converting insightful water quality science into the public space for general consumption.
Using these product datasets, we have been able to create an Algal Alerting system that can be expanded to every waterbody in Australia. This system allows us to use water quality data specific to that waterbody to provide near real time information about its current water quality status.
As AquaWatch continues to develop this product suite of datasets, as our partners and community get access to them, there is an amazing opportunity for the application of water quality science to filter out into the general populace. These present us numerous opportunities to improve the lives of everyone in Australia and the world.
