Kishor Maharjan Australian Freshwater Sciences Society Conference 2024

Kishor Maharjan

I am currently pursuing a PhD within the Centre for Applied Water Science at the University of Canberra. My academic journey began with a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Macquarie University and has now culminated in a focus on freshwater ecology. Now, in my doctoral research, I'm investigating the effect of flow variations on zooplankton communities within the Lower Lachlan River Catchment in Central New South Wales, part of the vital Murray-Darling Basin. This study leverages both field sampling, including long-term data from the Flow-MER program, and controlled laboratory experiments to understand how variations in flow affect the abundance, composition, and diversity of zooplankton communities, thereby providing insights into potential ecological responses to future changes in the flow regime.
