Emmalie P Sanders
Emmalie Sanders is a current PhD candidate at Charles Sturt University and research assistant for the Murrumbidgee Flow-MER team. Emmalie has completed a Bachelor of Animal Scince and an Honours year researching the activity patterns of the Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris). Her current research focuses on the semi-aquatic native water rat (rakali, Hydromys chrysogaster) within the Murrumbidgee area. Key topics of this research include the review of extinction risk of all freshwater mammals, the best detection methods for the species, diet analysis via faecal metabarcoding and their habitat and hydrological requirements. Emmalie has interests in freshwater ecosystems and mammal ecology, but through working as a field assistant during wetland surveys has a new appreciation for all wetland taxa.
