Larissa Corteletti da Costa

I hold a PhD in Ecology, awarded by Universidade Vila Velha in 2018, preceded by a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from FAESA, obtained in 2011. Since 2012, I have been part of a team of collaborating researchers at the Aquatic Insect Ecology Laboratory (UVV), where I have held a postdoctoral position since 2022. My research focuses on Ecosystem Ecology, particularly freshwater ecosystems, including rivers, streams, and riparian zones. My primary focus is on understanding the effects of anthropogenic disturbances, such as nutrient pollution, deforestation, and biodiversity loss, on essential ecosystem functions. I employ observational and experimental approaches at local and regional scales for this analysis. My expertise encompasses Limnology, emphasizing the spatiotemporal analysis of populations and communities, benthic community structure, ecological processes, and trophic interactions between macroconsumers and the role of these organisms in energy flow in streams. Additionally, I have skills in water quality assessment using bioindicators and applying multimetric ecological integrity indices. I participate in the "Tropical Water Research Alliance - An International Network for Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development in Tropical Watersheds" project, a collaboration between Brazil and Australia, serving as a researcher within this initiative.
